(Rendell is the starting point of the campaign. You may learn more about it in game. This write up is just some basic info anyone travelling thru or from Avoy would know about the town.)
Rendell is a small town in south central Avoy. The area around it is not heavily populated. Most of the land in southern Avoy is not good for farming. Cold winters, somewhat high altitude, and poor soil contribute. What people there are herd livestock, sheep and goats being the most popular. Rendell is the market town for the hearty, monster plagued herders in the area.
Rendell is located in a little sheltered dell a few miles across that actually has some decent farmland. They grow a bit of oats, barley, and hay, mostly for animal feed. The town itself is surrounded by a circular town wall. A few little villages are in the area.
Most people in Avoy know Rendell exists, but would never go there. It is on the wrong end of the realm, and not on the way to anywhere. Except the Shadow.
As the last town before Skarag’s Shadow, it is often called the gateway to the Shadow. There is a trail that heads south into the Shadow. It follows the crumbling remains of an ancient road, leading up into the highlands and into the Shadow.
